Community principles

Built with, not about.

We build with communities whose cultural imagination and economic weight have been underestimated by traditional studios. These communities develop language, ritual, symbols, characters and events of their own — a property done right helps a community see itself represented; done wrong, it treats people as inventory. These principles are how we stay on the right side of that line.

We also don't pretend every underserved market is merely a victim of cultural lag. Some are underserved for hard reasons — consent, safety, moderation, insurance, financial-services policy. Members of the communities we work with may still face real employment, family, banking and platform risks. We treat those as design requirements, not friction.

01Community members participate in development. Properties are shaped with people from the community they serve — in the writers' room, not just the focus group.
02Cultural advisers are credited and compensated. Expertise about a community's life is paid work, on the record.
03Characters are tested for authenticity and harm. Before a character ships — on a phone line or a page — community reviewers assess whether it reads as true and whether it could hurt the people it represents.
04Revenue-share and creator pathways exist. Community creators can earn from the properties they help build, through defined revenue-share or commissioning arrangements per property.
05Contributions carry explicit rights terms. When patrons co-create with a living property, the terms for their contributions are written and visible — documented in each property's rights schedule.
06Moderation and consent are designed at the property level. Each property defines what its characters will and won't do, how sensitive calls and content are handled, and how consent is recorded — before launch, not after an incident.
07Communities are never treated as datasets. Interaction data serves the venue and the property its patrons chose. It is not sold, and it is not mined beyond the purposes stated to the people producing it.
